Bali Trade Facilitation

Two children smilling

The Ninth Ministerial Session of WTO members in Bali, Indonesia reached a historic milestone agreement on Trade Facilitation on 7 December 2013.

AfTra’s focus areas, particularly facilitating trade and building capacity in institutions, align perfectly with the Agreement. Importantly, our guiding principles on effective development cooperation are fully in line with the Trade Facilitation Agreement’s framework for donors to support implementation, which include:

  • promoting regional and sub-regional integration
  • working within the development framework of countries and regions
  • plugging in the private sector
  • strengthening coordination

Our vision is for a “competitive African economy that is regionally and globally integrated”. Against this backdrop AfTra is looking to scale up into a multi-donor trust fund, bringing on board new donors to meet the growing demand for trade facilitation assistance.

If you are looking to develop partnerships in Africa to further the aims of the Bali Trade Facilitation Agreement, please do contact our team.
